Rural Students in Higher Education
Rural students of color (RSC) face persistent and compounding barriers to higher education access and success, particularly amid the decline of traditional rural industries. Although research has documented disparities in college access, little is known about how RSC experience higher education and navigate academic and career development once enrolled. This project seeks to address this critical gap by developing a grounded theory that explains the academic and career trajectories of RSC.

Work Support Impact on Work Outcomes
Social support is essential for employee well-being, work outcomes, and navigating work-related challenges. Insufficient research has been conducted on the impact of work-specific support on long-term work outcomes.
Project 1. This project seeks to address this gap by investigating the impact of work support on work outcomes in the long run. Particularly, the study investigates the buffering role of work support on the negative effect of contextual barriers on work outcomes over time.
Project 2. This project seeks to explore the ways in which workers utilize their social support in their work lives and ways in which they develop social support sytems.

Women's Work Experiences
Studies have consistently shown that gender disparities can negatively affect women’s well-being as well as their work performance and job satisfaction (Bond et al., 2004). For example, a recent meta-analysis showed that the specific experiences of sexist discrimination and sexist organizational work climate were negatively related to women’s work related and general well-being (Sojo, Wood, & Genat, 2016). This project seeks to investigate women's experiences of marginalization at work and impact of those experiences on outcome over time.

Cross-Cultural/Cross-National Studies on Work Experiences
Cultural context is an essential factor that needs to be considered in vocational research (Fouad & Bingham, 1995; Savickas & Walsh, 1996). Many scholars in vocational psychology have acknowledged the essentiality of culture and have conducted studies that aim to address cultural influences on a variety of vocational behaviors and outcomes (e.g., Savickas & Porfeli, 2012).
